ATC - Fabric

Our last ATC at Soul Scrappers for this year had us using fabric.

I was lucky enough to find a sheet of Fabric DSP - didn't know it existed....LOL....and used it, and as you can see, not real handy with a sewing machine!

I stamped the Friend stamp on using StazOn ink and used glue dots for the buttons as I didn't like my chances of sewing them on.
Hope the ladies enjoy them and I look forward to starting again next year - I believe our first theme will be Valentines so I had best get my thinking cap on.

Amazing Race - Roadblock Athens

This time round, instead of a detour, we have encountered a Roadblock!!!!!

We had two choices - a Layout or take some photo's with certain requirements.
I chose the layout option.
This option had us use a photo with a camera visible in it, or an item you could get Duty Free.

Here's my entry:

A couple of years ago, my Mum and two of her sisters went to Greece, and this is one of my Aunts (Elva) holding her camera on the left, my Mum holding my video camera in the middle and one of Mum's friends (sorry, can't recall her name) taken whilst waiting for the tour bus to pick them up from the hotel.
The stripped tag popping out is a journal tag so I can get the info from Mum and write it all there.

Birthday Swap Cards for ME!

I show you all the cards I make for the Birthday Swaps and Team members, and now I will show you the cards I received - and seeing there is 17 of us in this swap club, you can understand why when you only get 6! with only 4 more Birthdays to go, that people are shy of signing up. Very frustrating when you are clearly told that if you can not commit - don't join it. Yes, I'm sorry, two of my pet peeves is saying you will do something and then not do it, and the biggest one for me is being late! Those that know me well know that I am a very busy person and if I can get it all done and on time, then yes, your excuse for not is?

Anyway, I have had my vent and now to show you the lovely cards I got form some very talented SU Demo's.

Margie Dore & Sarah Campbell

Ailsa Berry & Amanda Soullier

Sue Mitchell & Lorrae Weiss

These cards are gorgeous in real life - a few have shimmer mist on them and they really do sparkle.

Now I also have to show you the gorgeous card Laura made me - she had open house in my craft room before school and stamped, coloured and used the bigshot for a fantastic result! all the time I was at work.
She loves Marci stamps as much as I do which is great.

International Teachers Appreciation Day

Today is International Teachers Appreciation Day, and as such, we made a gift for Laura's Male teacher Mr.C and also for her AFL Coach Mrs.N.

Have I told you already that I love the new Glassine Bags?
Check these out - can you guess which was Mr C's?

They came up great! the zigzag top edge gives a great finish when adding cardstock to the bag so you really don't need to do anything else to it.
I have stamped on the bags with the Pleasant Poppies background stamp and used my markers to add colour, and of course the matching satin ribbon (still time to get it free!).

What do you think - I can report that both teachers loved them. Hehehehe I like to think it wasn't just for the chocolate inside.

Amazing Race Stop 5 - Holland

This stop - Holland.

Criteria for this stop:

  • Photo with 3 or more people in it
  • Pinwheel
  • Orange colour somewhere on LO

OMG - every time I see this photo I have a quite giggle to myself!

1976, Big Pineapple train ride - must have been the most boring thing I have ever done in my whole entire life so far. For the love of me I can't understand why Shayne actually has a smile on his face. Notice it's just us four kids on the train - where is mum and dad you ask? well I suppose they went and had icecream sundaes in the cafe while we endured that ride - punishment I would say!

Happy Hanukkah Monogram Bags

With Hanukkah just around the corner, I made these cute bags using the Glassine bags from the Halloween Bundle.

I used the alphabets from the new Morning Post set to personalise the gift.

Some shortbread inside and tied with the new satin stitched ribbon

Absolutely love how they turned out and I know it will be a surprise when my mum gives them to the ladies as they aren't expecting anything from me - and I have not actually met them yet, but I will do that one day soon.

Happy Birthday Bee Jay

Bee Jay turned 4 on 12th October and we just had to make a card and get some gifts for him.
We have only had him for 10 months, but he really is a big part of our family - it is like having a toddler in the house again! Yes, we have even spent a couple of hours in the Emergency Dept with him last month when he hurt his eye - only the Vets don't take Medicare and it cost a small fortune, but worth every cent!

I made him a lovely card, got some treats from the vets and the kids bought him a toy when they were at Nan's.

The sad thing is he probably got a lot more for his birthday than a lot of children out there in our neighbuorhood.

Amazing Race Stop 4 - Canada

So this stop has us visiting Canada - ohhhhhh if only this was for real!

Criteria for this stop:

  • Large photo - bigger than 4x6
  • Use leaves on LO
  • Incorporate movement down page

My sweet little girl! Still sweet but not so little now.

The great thing about coming into Scrapbooking when your children are older is that like me, you get to look at all the photo's from when they are small and really think about it when you create the layout.
I guess the other thing is that I have always taken photo's - much to the embarrassment at times to my family.
This photo is one from childcare days and my little curly top would only be around 3.

Next stop Europe - very exciting!

Plant Hope Easel Calendar Card

Crafters Anonymous Facebook Group had a Lovely As A Tree challenge.

I don't have that set and I know that as soon as I buy it, it will be retired!, I do however have the Plant Hope set, so I used that, given that most people in the group don't have it either...LOL.

Here is my Plant Hope Easel Calendar Card:

I shadow stamped the imagine again with the new Illumaire Ink Pad for a different effect.

I haven't put a sentiment on it as I really wasn't sure it needed one due to it being used for 12 months!, but it is a nice male gift for sure.

SUCC3 - Stamp Sets

How fast is time going these days?
This round for my Soul Scrapper Stampin' Up! Card Challenge, I thought we would make a card using Stamp Sets ...... where you use more than two stamps - can be a single layer or 10.
The whole idea being that most stamp sets with Stampin' Up have 5-9 stamps, and a lot of the time, we only use 1 or 2 - this way I am challenging everyone to use the whole set or close to.

Here are some the examples I made to get everyone inspired:
A single layer - stamped onto Cardstock base using 6 stamps from Extreme Elements (set of 6).
Ribbon either side of sponged background gives the effect of an extra layer.

Two layer card using 3 stamps from Tree Trimming (set of 4) and 2 stamps from Joyous Celebrations (set of 9).

A triple layer card using 5 stamps from French Foliage (set of 5) and the Sanded background stamp.

here's a link to a Tutorial by Julia Stainton that Ellen Hutson has on her blog which I used to create this gorgeous card from( I did change the measurements)

I hope you can all join in with my challenge as I'm sure all your stamps will love you for it - who knows, maybe you will find some that look spectacular!

WC15 - Today with Bee Jay

Mary's Word Challenge is "Today".
A lot of lovely pages have been entered into this one.

Here is my entry, a digital layout this time:

Enjoyed making this Digi page and Bee Jay's look is priceless!!!!
We had wondered where all the grit in the house was coming from...hehehe, a dog has to be cool I guess.
And yes, that is an impressive hole - Bee Jay is a large Greyhound, you would be more likely to break your leg in this one, not just sprain your ankle!

THC54 - Monday's Child

Liz picked this lovely poem, "Monday's Child", for our Theme challenge this time.

We had to have the poem on our layout, with banners / butting, ribbon / twine.

Nathan is a Sunday child and Laura a Wednesday child.
This is one of my favourite pictures of them both together.

CC9 - Christmas Time

Wow, Jen gave us two challenges this time - the first one, to make a card using her recipe provided.
Here is my entry:

And the second, to create your own recipe and share.
Here is what I shared:

So I have three cards made using the exact same recipe - just to show you how changing the card base and the layout can achieve 3 totally different cards.
So to start,
1.Use a standard A5 size cardstock folded and scored in half.
2. A piece of cardstock 5 7/8" x 3 1/4" shown here in Red.
3. A piece of DSP 3" x 3".
4. A 4" piece of ribbon.
The card laying down has the ribbon cut in half lengthways and used as a border as it has a nice scallop effect.

It's a pretty basic recipe but one that you can easily use to make one or a dozen cards with quite easily.

Amazing Race - Detour 2

Amazing Race - Detour 2 sees us travelling to a mysterious and foreign country and you guessed it - no idea what the language is.

This challenge has us scrapping a page with a foreign word in the title or subtitle.

Ok, hopeful this translated correctly! My title - Souffler boules should be "Blowing Bubbles" in English.

October Birthday Card Swap

Apart from my own birthday, I only had to make one card this month for our club.

This is the card I made for Sue using the new Pleasant Poppies background stamp.

Love the Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango colour combo and used my markers to colour the poppies.

CUCC8 - 4 Generations

Over at Soul Scrappers, Cooking Up Creation Challenge this time round sees Jane asking us to use Numbers, Tags, Mist and Mask.

Here's my entry:
The shimmer mist on top and bottom has caused a buckle, but that will flatten out ok.

Closeup of the shimmer mist on the tags

The tags look awesome with the mist over them.......photo is of my mum, 2nd oldest brother, his daughter and her daughter - a rare picture opportunity!

I don't have any mask's (stencil's) so I used the Masking Technique with my stamp set.

World Card Making Day 2012

Ok, World Card Making Day was yesterday - I did make several cards for a few challenges that I will show you over time - and I also got my card done for my next Soul Scrapper challenge.

This is the card I made for our WCMD Challenge at Soul Scrappers:

Just loving the new In Colors at the moment - This one uses Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green with the Be Of Good Cheer DSP and a non SU doily. Sentiment from Chock-Full of Cheer and that gorgeous bird stamp is from the hostess set Four Seasons.

Ok, so I have told you all you need so I would love to see your's in the spirit of World Card Making Day!

Italian 90th Birthday Party Set

I just had to show you what I have been busy making for the last few months.

I was asked to make this special order for a very special man about to turn 90, yes he is Italian.

40 Tea Light Holders for the tables in Italian colours

60 Thank You Favor Bags - Italian Theme

60 Table Place cards and 50 Thank You Note Cards and envelopes
(couldn't put them in an old ordinary box!)
Both to have Italian flag on them.

And here is what I came up with:

I love how the set has turned out and can't wait to see a photo of them all on the tables (no I'm not invited....LOL)

I must say the bags took the longest to make as it is all mainly hand cut and that flag is on both sides of the bag!

Now on to my next order.......
